I bought a new Bosch battery and with a bit of patience and the bonnet in access mode I got it to fit without any modifications. However although it lasts longer than the battery I took out it still goes flat after a couple of days parked ( like this morning ) I am a bit uncertain what to do next as I have in the past left it parked for a couple of weeks, admittedly in warmer weather, and it would start no problem. So I might have wasted the money buying the Bosch as clearly there is an underlying problem. At least I can investigate now as its stopped raining Geoff |

I don't think I would fare very well at all - but for £100 that's a risk I am prepared to take for the benefit of having a car in which I can use the FBH with impunity without worrying about subsequently starting the engine! |

My battery arrived today - Bosch 110 A/H 920CCA - Euro car parts £133 >>>£99 with UKPAS25 code then £4.99 cashback from quidco. Followed the battery disconnection guide allowing plenty of time for car to sleep. Bonnet into access, which was straight forward. 2 year old Bosch 100A/H out (back to costco at earliest opportunity!) and the new 110A/H went in pretty easily with no hacking...wheres the snag?

Just to share my experience on the battery for the TDV8. I've searched ebay and Varta 610 402 092 came up as a compatible battery for the car. Ordered it direct from the seller's website (was a little cheaper that way ) and got it delivered shortly after. Today set to change out the battery just to find out the Varta is longer by about 40mm. Measured the battery tray and it looked like a snug fit so I gave it a try. It did fit but the positive terminal which is the size of small pack of cigarettes wouldn't go. Lifted one end of the battery, bolted the terminal then lowered it down. It sits fine but no room to either side now. In case I need to remove a positive I will need to lift the battery again. Not the end of the world but a little annoying given that it came from a big reseller and was advertised as a replacement for the OEM battery on a TDV8. Other than that, happy days! |

Whilst at the risk of resurrecting an old post just thought I would share my confirmation that with a bit of elbow grease, cursing, brute force and some trimming of the moulding at each end of the battery you can indeed shoe horn the the 393mm long battery into the space available.
