Are you sure it was a fault that was showing, and not just a signal to say that the shift was not fully in PARK?? I know you know now, but usually moving the shifter back and forward will get it to start. Previously..

Probably just the stick not fully in park - common thing, happend to me twice - both times while I was in a rush while parking up. Just moved stick out of and then back into park and works fine. |

Sounds like the car didn't think you were in Park enough to allow starting. This could be due to a couple of things. The inhibitor switch, which lives on top of the gearbox behind the engine, may be the root of your problem, or you could be having problem with your selector cable/s (one that runs from gearstick to ignition, and one that runs from gearstick to gearbox). The latter can get bent or seize up at the linkage.

Have you ever greased the selector cable on the car?

Is it cranking but not starting? If so, have you checked the fuel pump underneath in front of NSR wheel?

Have you greased the selector cable and crank arm on the side of the gearbox? |

Sorry, inhibitor switch on the GM 5L40E (TD6) box is inside the gearbox itself, the inhibitor switch for the ZF 5HP24 is on top of the gearbox (below the plenum chamber).

To all the members of this forum who replied to my battery problem on my RR 2006 TDi For a number of years (2) i suffered starting problems, so getting fed up with it I ordered from Amazon a combined amp/volt meter and a current shunt with all this ready to go I had one journey to make which to me close to the place I purchased my battery so I popped in and explained my problem, their suggestion was to replace the battery and send the old one for testing..... AND GUESS WHAT !!!!! they contacted me to inform me that the battery was faulty and would be replaced without charge. SO I've had it month with no trouble starting. So I never did get to do my test.... |

I own a 2006 Range Rover Vogue 3.0 L322 Diesel which I purchased from new and now with 33,000 miles the only problem I’ve had is the battery that has failed twice I have decided to keep it for a few more years. This model has a TV fitted but does not work due to being analogue. Does any member know how and where to purchase a digital replacement. I live in Bristol England UK |
