TDV8 Not starting - fixed, but not sure

Hi All

My RR decided to switch the engine off and not start last Saturday. I was only 100 yards from my local dealer so it got taken there. They have told me it is fixed, but I am not sure if the explanation seems right. (not collected it yet)

When my RR stopped it had about 1/8 tank of fuel (orange light not on). My IID tool and AA diagnosed low fuel pressure.

Local staler put 10 litres of fuel in and said there was a leaking Schrader valve on the side of the tank.

'found fuel valve leak at the fuel line valve, replaced and retested all ok'

Does this sound like a reasonable explanation or did I actually ran out of fuel and there is a problem with the fuel sender 56 TDV8 Vogue SE

Is my Fuel gauge sender on its way out

Changed the name of this topic to reflect what I think has happened

Just got the RR back from the stealers and just put 97 litres in it. Before the fill up the gauge was showing just under 1/4 and stealer said they had put 10 litres in it

When the RR shut down it was showing 1/8 tank, but given the volume of fuel that has been put in it. I think I ran out of fuel due to a faulty sender reading.

I've done the same with mine. It showed about 1/4 of a tank and I ran out of diesel. The RAC sorted me out and now I don't go over 1/2 a tank before filling up again. If that isn't possible, i.e., a long journey then I will take a note of the miles driven and fill up at about 300. I might get the sender sorted at some point but for now this method works fine.

Cheers, Ian.

I can normally get about 450 miles on a tank, so will just fill up every 400 miles now until I can get round to having a look at the cabling in the tank.

Need to get my hands on a copy of the TSB for fixing the sender cabling 56 TDV8 Vogue SE
