The dealership wants £254 for the battery And £60 to fit … plus my FBH is gubbed anyhow

Eurocarparts, Exide battery 100 Amp/hour is £103, when you use the MBCLUB25 discount code this comes down to £77. You will have no issues fitting as it is the same dimensions as a standard battery

is it better to wait until the battery fails, and then get a replacement with all the hassle, or.....
just change the battery every 2 years come what may...
you may get an extra year or so out the battery in place, but what with the all the depreciation and costs of running the FFRRs anyway, is it saving money?
or......just get the spare when the existing one is 2 years old...stick it on a modern maintenance battery charger, and when the one in situ fails or starts to fail, swap them over. Don't know how sensible this option is. Could be pretty pointless if the one on the charger is slowly reaching the end of its "shelf life" whilst in the garage and by the time you swap the batteries you are replacing a dud one with a soon to be dud one. Or do the modern chargers keep the battery in top nick indefinitely?

Oh Dear Kerching Kerching And here was I thinking just a battery fault and that i was lucky to get a Local garage to change it , well the battery is stone dead even with a fully recharged power pack attached to it and not even a dash light ……

Mobile mechanic that came out reckons wiring or ECU faults and to get the car recovered , but his advice was to get it done via a dealership as they don't have the correct diagnostic equipment for it due to the car having so many "Brains"

Mick, have you had a recall on the battery yet? It specifically relates to 2010MY, I had mine last month which involved replacing the old battery, installing the newer "gel style" one together with some kind of battery monitoring system. Bad news was that they have to send the old battery back to LR and I had just fitted a Bosch S5 a month earlier but good news in the end as I hadn't dumped the original one so they did the swap, sent the original back and I found my nearly new S5 in the boot!!!

I suggest giving your stealer a call back and asking them if your vehicle falls under the Range Rover Assurance Programme Q159

If it does then they need a kick up the backside for NOT telling you about it when you first rang

There is also a software upgrade as part of this to the instrument panel and HVAC system which now means without the engine running a much shorter time before a low power message appears and the ICE system shuts down completely

I doubt it needs anything more than a new battery as the ECU and bits are protected to a certain extent and a low battery should cause no issues, just the jumping is warned of causing problems..

Mines is an 09 plate 2010 my Will warranty ran out a few month back

There may be nothing wrong with your car other than the battery.
I seriously doubt connecting a jump pack to a fully dead RR battery would do anything at all never mind start it.

Certainly wouldn't let the dealer near it without speaking to LRCS first as its just out of warranty.

There is always that sales of good act, suitable for use and so forth that covers you upto 6yrs IIRC

I think there are some cases where dealers have been taken to court after supplying some dodgy cars to find they are then made to be responsible for them for near enough that period...
