Fan orange light always on.......

I've just noticed that I have a single orange light, always lit, from around the "rotary encoder" on the fan speed control.

Has anyone else had this ?

Wasn't there yesterday.......

(there we go, I've managed to side step any knob jokes.......) Laughing

..and is the indicator for the gear position always lit, behind the gear lever ?

....set me off now.........

Thanks

My gearbox light always glows dimly. Never had the kno... rotary encoder light up like that though.

Maybe pull the fuse on it, or disconnect the battery. Odd one. V8 or else ...

Whats your battery life like? The fan speed indicator fault is a sure sign that the heater fan speed control (resistor pack -aka the hegehog) is faulty. It causes other problems including rapid battery drain. The little red light on the transmission position should extinguish ten mins after the car has been locked. To check, look through the window, dont unlock or open the door.

If it was mine, I would get a diagnostics check done, read the fault codes and go from there. If its the hedgehog, they are about 30-40 quid, get a gen LR item from dealers- I see plenty on the bay but stories about early failures also.

There is plenty on here about the hedgehog.....

Cheers.

Battery and FSR were replaced in November with genuine units, so I'm not initially expecting those to be an issue.

I shall attempt to find the fuse for the control panel, and see if pulling that resets it.

Failing that, I'll unplug the panel and put it back.

If it's still joggered, I shall have to do a bit more head scratching..........

Thanks

Just removed the fuse (F12 Passenger Compartment), and replaced, and the light is still on.

Unit works fine...........just the piggin orange light........

Will remove the unit - and resist temptation to strip it down...........
