My L322 v8 won't start!

Full battery dash lights up everything comes on just won't even tuen over....no idea what's wrong with it as it locks and opens and all that??? Sometimes it's temperamental it won't turn over fully fitrst time nut on second go it's ok. Now it completely won't turn over at all likes it dead ,,,, or an immobiliser problem??? Any ideas on how I can get it to start....it's on a slight ramp on my drive could this affect it or maybe the torrential rain....

Either way need it to start ASAP or get someone to start it for me!!! I don't think AA will be of any use!!

firstly are you sure you have a good voltage coming of the batt, put your lights on and use your windows up/down. if they appear fine the next step would be think..when you last used it was all ok... do you here the click as you put your key in, if yes i would check the wires on the starter to make sure they are tight. V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

just an idea, there are inhibitor switches on the gear selectors to stop you starting the car whilst a gear is selected. my D2 has this problem and it wouldn't start sometimes, due to a dodgy switch. all i used to do, was pull the gear selector fully up and down through the range a couple of times and turn the key and up the old girl would fire. love that V8 burble.. Very Happy

not saying this is your problem, but worth a go!!

good luck.. Thumbs Up Current: TDV8 (3.6) RRS HSE

Is the gear switch a bit sticky? Does the car think it is in gear and therefore not starting. It's unlikely but just a thought. No longer FF owner but still interested. Present car Jaguar XE

Thanks for all the replies it's actually started now and fine so I'm baffled!!! ...it's done it aces times and my mechanic told me to wait until it properly broke!!!

Its not the batt it's all good. I don't think it's gearbox related because when it happened it didn't start and tried it a few times and left it for for 15 mins, went back out tried again...didn't touch the gear lever and it started.

Strange.....I think it's the ignition switch do these have known problems with the ignition switch or immobiliser???

Thumbs Up *SSS*

Could be the transponder in the key.

Next time try a different key.
