2006 Range Rover Vogue 4.4 V8 Java Black

Am I the only person contemplating whether to try and buy one of the last Defenders when the new model is released (2015 I think?). I just have a sense that these will become very sought-after and command some level of premium?

I've heard that LR will continue to produce the Defender alongside this new DC100 thing, but production will move to India. All LR Def's are now classed as commercials and there's some sort of advantage for LR. Don't know the details but its a great way to appease the masses of weird-beards who are shooting their dogs at the thought of the end of the iconic LR shape. Discovery 4 HSE

Can't fault your taste as I also own a 110.

Like yours, mine also has Cooper STT's on it (285/75/16) and mine aren't floaty. Well, not compared to the BFG AT's they replaced.

I do like your 90 a lot. Somewhat understated with black wheels. Tasteful, but menacing. Si. <This is my name.

looking good adam!

for what its worth, my LR90 handled better than my RR Classic - I could literally chuck it round corners as though she was on rails. Both vehicles were standard and shod with Michelin 205r16s - the Classic had the later suspension with factory anti roll bars. I think it was probably due to the firmer suspension on the 90

The inside looks a bit shiny are you going to cover the tinfoil on the insulation.
If you would like to know where to get some rear springs that give a lift of about 1" but are not harder than the standard springs and therefore do not affect the ride then get in touch, I have used them for years and as long as you are not looking to carry a load of extra weight they are great. 2010 3.6TDV8 Stornoway Grey/ Black interior - gone

MUD UK?

Excellent range of products. I've just bought their snow cowl and a few LED interior lights.

Speaking of which, have you installed their MUD rails underneath your drivers seat? Si. <This is my name.

I also bought the smaller LEDs for the rear panels, yes, all MUD. Thumbs Up

I bought seat riser rails from Paddocks, and they are better for the money I think as you can adjust the height even further or raise the front and back of the seat in a tilt adjust.

I want to put black 3mm chequer plates on the wings and bonnet, and maybe a snow cowl next winter.

Just waiting for MUD to get their large wire nets back in stock so I can fit those to the side panels.

Quite like their tunnel tray too!

That's the problem with the Defender, its WAY to easy to keep spending money on improvements, especially when you start with such a basic one like mine! Discovery 4 HSE

Completely agree.

I've had my 110 for almost 7 years and I tend to keep changing things.

Most of my money has gone into the engine, though. My 155,000 mile 300Tdi can easily leave a TdCi for dead. Mr. Green

I'm currently having a custom SS exhaust made with twin pipes. One either side of the rear, just under the rear crossmember. That's replacing a well-known full SS system. Mates rates and some gentle persuasion helped.

But I've gotta get sensible soon and replace the doors. And a galv chassis is appealing at some point.

Like you said, it never ends. Laughing Si. <This is my name.

Very nice! I spent many happy hours adding aluminium flashing tape plus closed cell foam matting to every surface on my 110 - which made it much quieter than standard (so reduced to just noisy). I don't miss the sore right shoulder from long journeys however ...

I considered it also.
But as a new vehicle the decent spec ones are expensive for what they are, (over £30k) so it's not going to be an investment.
You just won't lose value as fast.

I'd love an old 110 station wagon as a second car though but they cost so much Shocked

Snap.

That was an expensive test drive __________________

Removed the headlining today, cleaned all the roof and applied the foil backed sound deadening.

Wired up for 4 speakers for when new headlining arrives - enjoying the electrical work, very satisfying making a good job using the heat shrink etc.

Fitted the MUD Stuff panels in the back, they need a bit of fettling to get them just right for your car, complete with LED lights and starlights I added for fun.

Fitted a new steering damper as the old one had no rebound left in it.

Once the headlining arrives and that is in, the interior will look totally transformed.

Then I can do the springs and shocks to lower it back to normality Rolling Eyes Discovery 4 HSE

Work going well on the Defender, in summary;

Removed lifted suspension and replaced with stock parts - drives SO much better!
Interior roof space now fully lined in the aluminium sound deadening/thermal layer
New Alpine CD/MP3/Aux/USB head unit fitted
OE LR Heated seat switches sourced and fitted
Rear MUD side panels all finished with additional nets
Rear LED worklight installed
Bonnet and wings black 3mm chequer plate fitted
Front A Bar fitted
Front & rear mudflaps on
New Steering Damper fitted
Tinted the rear safari door glass myself (pretty easy really)

As I'm preparing it to look nice for the Convoy4Heroes Guinness Book of Records run on Sunday I washed it (amazingly the first time since I bought it!) and did the 3 stage paint process on it, although I regret not clay barring it, but I'll do that next time, it looks really purposeful now.

All that's left is to find a mate who will help me fit the headlining.
