United Kingdom 2005 Range Rover Vogue Td6 Bonatti Grey

The back of the group looks a bit gay there Wink

Looks good fella Smile has it got locking front and rear diff's and centre?

Are you hoping that if the 90 gets a dunking the seat heaters will help dry it out or just you Very Happy

ONLY KIDDING!! im betting few people have been thankful of that mod in the 90/110's over the years. Is the steering wheel next at all?
Do you find the cabin is a pig to warm up and doesn't get much heat from the heaterbox as some owners say? FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

The cabin should be pretty warm in a 90. My 300Tdi 110 warms up very nicely given about 15 minutes with the fan on full and a warm engine.

Looks great, Tim! Thumbs Up

Don't worry about those ruts. With that mud, they're a pig to cross with or without diff-lock. I've found that a boot full of throttle can help.

Is your Td5 remapped? I can't remember. My Tdi is pretty quick these days thanks to a lot of ££ on the engine and drivetrain. Obviously not as quick as a FFRR, but the experience is so different (and other road users expectations vastly different) that I get more satisfaction driving my 110 rapidly than my FF ever gives me. Si. <This is my name.

Agreed about the freeloaders! Totally Gay!

Not sure if mine is remapped and I've never driven another TD5 to compare it to.

The heater is awesome, it's gets too hot, but that's ok cos think I can use the front vents, which all the Puma owners would love to have. Whistle Discovery 4 HSE

I have been getting serious pressure from my lovely wife to buy her another defender as a daily driver. I made the mistake of letting her read this thread from start to finish. Damn.. More pressure. She loves what you have done. Previously..

Agreed, you've done fantastic job on the deafener!!

I cant believe that you say the heater is fantastic though, unless i've mised something in your posts and you've fitted an Eberspacher? (did this to my last TD5 Defender double cab and this is awesome)

I love driving my TDV8 FFRR but the Defender puts a smile on my face every time I drive it, and I have to say I drive it more regularly than I drive the FFRR.

Nope, the standard heater is first class.

When I fitted my wing top snow shields, I got my hand right down inside the heater intake and pulled out loads of leaves and crud, and unblocked the drain hole with my finger (felt a bit weird). It takes about 5-10 mins to fully warm up but it gets too warm if anything. Discovery 4 HSE

They do seem to vary considerably from car to car. When I had the TD5's I used to change the thermostat every year (on top of cleaning the intake) which seemed to keep the heater working tip top, mind you mine still took 10 to 15mins to get up to full temperature, and i cant say that it ever really got too warm!

My current Puma engined 90 on the other hand actually has a heater that has an output that can be uncomfortably warm on the legs and blows like a fat lass !

Your Defender looks lovely.

Having 3 4.6 P38's we've got a bit of a crazy love affair type thing going on with the Rover V8 engine here. I keep looking at 50th Anniversary Defenders as they were all V8's. There's one on eBay just now, a 1998 with 105k on it, there's a hole in the back door and there's not a panel on it without some kind of blemish in the paint work and the guy wants £13k for it.

The whole 'poor Defender heating' thing is a misnomer in my view.

Adjusted properly with the thermostst working as it should (as DLKS says, frequest thermostat changes seem to be a key thing here - mine's been replaced twice in 7 years), intakes clear and fan speed good, they do blow out a lot of heat.

A 110 CSW, by far the largest interior of any factory-standard Defender takes a while to FULLY warm up, but they're no great hardship to live with if you're sensible.

I have an aversion to wearing any form of jacket in my FF. My reasoning is that the leather is so nice to feel, the heating system so good, that anything more than a shirt and light jumper is a waste. I cannot, however, adopt that same philosophy in my 110.

On the V8 front, I completely agree with Dhallworth. V8 power is rather addictive. When my 300Tdi gives up, a suitable V8 will take its place. Si. <This is my name.
