I'd be tempted to use large pop rivets or rivnuts - avoids the messing about with disassembly

I must be missing something here , what good is it really going to be to retrofit it , all i can see is that it will slow the drop down of the lower tailgate

It really improves the quality feel when opening the tailgate, which on a pre MY2010 FF feels a bit flimsy.

so pre 2010 is shiite?

The pre MY2010 tailgate is not the cars strongest point, which is probably why LR improved it.

There are other improvements on thd later cars, but most cost £££, where as this one is surprisingly cheap.

I use screws from our screw pot, usually 3/4mm... Normally with torx heads as most screws in the FF are...

Never tried nuts & bolts as would take much longer to fit...

Both the P38 and early 322's lower boot opening feels cheap and nasty as the boot feels light, cheap and bangs when it gets to the bottom so this addresses that issue cheaply...

Can confirm on my MY11.5 I press the rubber button and the tailgate pops down itself, bang-free. No additional guidance needed.

Doesn't it make sense though that's how it ought to work? press buttom and thing pops open and lowers gently down?

Mine (2011) doesn't do that as described earlier in the thread....but I can't see the point of it otherwise.

It being my first vogue, maybe it addresses a previous model issue....?
