Before you do anything rash, get a can of WD40 and spray liberally inside the lock from the door jam side and key slot in the handle. It may just be stuck. NKSC had this a few weeks ago and this fixed it. Discovery 4 HSE

oh yea!! oh yea!! the end is nigh!! Sounds exactly the same as what's just happened to mine!!............................the nipple on the cable linkage to the outside handle has fell off and ya cant fix it (well ya could possibly resolder it!) some people would have a go mind you! new cable job, price varies 12-16 quid or go to your dealer stealer and pay a bit more.....I'd guess a 50 quider for the complete repair. I suppose it depends on your own confidence and ability...............................nowt to do with attitude I would of thought! Good luck Carlos50 on your choice of repair A wellwisher P.S. If ya do it yourself and it is the nipple that's fell off make sure you retrieve the nipple with a magnet or you may end up with a rattle inside your door and think you have another problem!! when you're in at it, oil / grease the mechanical arms and their pivots points of the lock unit that the cables pull on ... makes a huge difference to the feel of the handle when put back together. Much lighter and smoother. V8 or else ... |

I've asked my local LR dealer and usual they want me to advise what I need. They have sent me the schematic and there's a choice of an external release cable (ref 218826B) or a link rod (ref 26596), can anyone help me, again?

Update :- I'm doing the door panel removal right now and all clips are off, the panel is released from the window trim but it won't pull free? It feels stuck around the arm rest area so I've removed the wood trim to find a plastic insert, is this the problem?
