The cabin should be pretty warm in a 90. My 300Tdi 110 warms up very nicely given about 15 minutes with the fan on full and a warm engine.

Nope, the standard heater is first class. When I fitted my wing top snow shields, I got my hand right down inside the heater intake and pulled out loads of leaves and crud, and unblocked the drain hole with my finger (felt a bit weird). It takes about 5-10 mins to fully warm up but it gets too warm if anything. They do seem to vary considerably from car to car. When I had the TD5's I used to change the thermostat every year (on top of cleaning the intake) which seemed to keep the heater working tip top, mind you mine still took 10 to 15mins to get up to full temperature, and i cant say that it ever really got too warm!

The whole 'poor Defender heating' thing is a misnomer in my view.
