The little critter is on the right hand side, which is the passenger side where I live. Don´t know if they put it somewhere else on RHD cars though.

Just replaced mine, but the new one is a plastic casing with small metal pins and the old one is all metal with huge pins.

Is that right Three things in a blokes life his dog,his car and a Cornish pasty, nothing else matters.

There are two types one for the rear and one for the front they are not interchangeable as I found out.

Hi Ian
Have you ever had to replace the rear FSR? My TD6 is on her 3rd FSR (front) in 7 years, damn things. Someone mentioned the rear one too but no one seemed to know much about it

I’ve had many problems with FSR and intermittent operation of the blower. After two years of swapping FSR’s checking motors and duct servo units, I finally found that the problem was actually the connector to the FSR.

I purchased a replacement connector off eBay that is sold for BMW”s, cut off the old and soldered in the new. In doing so, I extended the loom by approx 15cm, so made it much easier to refit the FSR connector as it was less tight to navigate the hand under the steering column / centre console.

If you have tried everything else, consider this.
After fitting it, I needed to do the Battery disconnect / reset, to get to a clean state of the car, but now it all seems to be working perfectly (fingers crossed).

United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Vogue SE TDV8 Zermatt Silver

It’s been 6 months since my last post where I had replaced the FSR plug and tail of the connecting harness. The blower and heating controls had all then been ok for 6 months until two weeks ago and the blower stopped working (now that it’s been icy !!)

Then tonight, I’m driving along and the Blower starts. I thought great, a warm car again !!

However, I found the blower is on full even irrespective of the blower setting and even when the engine is switched off and car locked !!! I should be an expert on FSR and Blower problems by now, but have not seen this Full Speed Blower problem.

I did have a spare FSR and so I swapped it over but, it still has the same problem (full speed), irrespective of blower setting.

I’ve removed the FSR now to stop the battery draining over night but now need to make a new plan.

Any suggestions ? Should I replace the FSR or could it be something else ?

Thx -------------------------------------

If I am not mistaking now, did't this happen when you pull the blower relay out or was it the fsr plug?
When I had blower not working regularly(for some reason it happens always on winter) there was way to get it working on max and it stayed on after locking the car.
Changed the fsr first but it was not the solution and few days later also blower motor.

Currently with the FSR in, the bower is on Full, even when the car is locked i.e. battery drain...

If I pull the FSR Out then the blower stops. I have an new FSR arriving today, so will see if that fixes it... -------------------------------------

Just inserted the new FSR and the Blower is no longer on Full all the time. Blower control apears to have reverted to normal Very Happy
I'll see how it gets on in the following weeks. -------------------------------------

I’ve found with the new FSR from Amazon, it only increments the Blower speed on the first 3 increments of the Blower Speed.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07VGR...&psc=1

I returned the FSR to Amazon and re-ordered another of the same type and found the same problem. I don’t know if there are cheap Chinese FSR’s or if it could be something else ?

Has anybody else ever found an FSR only working on the first 3 speed increments ? -------------------------------------

Just some thoughts.
Partial speed operation seems to be related to some alternative market models (according to Amazon reviews)
When testing my original (thought to be faulty) item in the lab, I discovered the output varied in an analogue manner in response to a variable input. It worked exactly as it should.
ie internal resistance decreases as the applied voltage increases.

I am guessing the voltage fed to the FSR comes from the control ECU, according to the position fan speed control knob, rather than direct from the knob. If this were not so, the remote heating could not control the fan, as it clearly does.

A test for the motor itself could be short circuit the FSR power connections, causing full current to motor. If it runs at full speed, it is the FSR. If not, it is the motor.

I also think the ECU gets confused as to the presence of the FSR.
After the battery has been disconnected during service, the fan does not seem to work.(Has happened twice now)
Disconnecting the FSR plug and reconnecting seems to reset and work fine again.

Crazy new world of computer controlled vehicles. I love the physical switches on my '72 baby. Forty years of progress. 1972-2012
