TDV8 Restricted Performance

2011 L322 TDV8

I have been searching the posts but can't find anything similar to my issue.

Started intermittently getting the red Restricted Performance error a few weeks ago. The car seems to judder (Like a gearbox issue) then the warning light appears and the car goes into limp mode.

Used the car for a 180 mile round trip with no issues then the next day on a quick trip to the shops the error appeared.

I have checked for errors using the GAP IID tool and nothing is shown other than an error I have always had (P040D-00 EGR Temperature Sensor and occasionally and Water in Fuel sensor error which just seems to show as a yellow Restricted Performance error but the car still drives ok.

The car will drive fine with no errors after bein switched off for a while and the error sometimes can be cleared with the GAP IID tool but have had a few times where I could not get it to clear.

Anyone experienced anything similar and can advise where I should be looking or suggest another tool that may display more codes?

Any advice appreciated

First and cheapest thing is to check battery voltage, it maybe getting border line...
Should be 12.6volts 30 mins after fully charged... Thumbs Up Pete

I do have another issue where the fuel gauge only goes up to just below half even when completely topped up (I filled it before the long trip)

Could this be related?

Hope you don’t need to drive far as the fuel guage fault can shut the car down. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Did the restricted performance appear while accelerating?
If so, it could be the 2nd turbo change-over valve sticking (not being fast enough)

It doesn't seem to be related to acceleration
