Thanks Pete i will do mate and hope your wife is doing well, what i dont understand is the battery will start the car no issues, it will start the gear knob will rise i can take hand break off but 5 seconds later all warnings on the dash gear knob goes down and you cand move it, if i put a charger on and try to clear the codes whilst its being charged it wont clear them just says update failed when clearing the codes, im asking around for a new battery to try but im loosing the will with this car now 2012 Range Rover Westminster 4.4 TDV8

They can be very tricky sometimes and test you dearly.

Mine did exactly this a while ago. The transmission module is just in front of the brake servo. I checked for continuity on the main feed from the fuses by the battery, through to the trans module and found a bad connection to the relevant fuse in the under bonnet fuse box |

Sorry I won’t be able to provide pics as I am abroad at the moment. The fuse box under the bonnet is easy to see just to the left of the engine. I would also suggest removing the transmission module connector to check for corrosion etc. from recollection the trans module is just to the left of the wiper motor.[/quote] |

Thanks for all the replies I’ve been working away so not had chance to take a look. I replaced the battery with a new one unfortunately this did not help, I’m on site again until sat so I’ll check fuses and plugs then 2012 Range Rover Westminster 4.4 TDV8

Just had garage do another scan on there snap on diagnostic kit, they can’t even “talk” to the transmission module so I’m going to check fuses and earths and try to get underneath to make sure there is no damage to the wires going into the gearbox 2012 Range Rover Westminster 4.4 TDV8

As mentioned in my previous post. Did you check/clean the connection with the trans module under the bonnet, and the fuses and connections to it? |

I don’t know if this is any help at all but, as the 8HP70 Mechatronic is E-shift rather than M-shift (6HP26 & 28 ), the electronic module only uses seven wires to communicate and receive power to/from the vehicle.
