Bluetooth Phonebook Transfer - Android

I feel slightly stupid asking this question, so feel free to flame me. I did search, but no posts seemed relevant (except the post that MICK will no doubt dig up and post in 30 seconds time whilst waiving an accusatory finger at me!)

When I connect my Galaxy S2 (android) to the car it asks for the pairing code every time - on a Nokia you can set something as an "authorised device" I cant find that option in my phone.

As for a RR related question though, the phonebook doesn't transfer. Should this be instigated by the car or the phone? ie should the car say "I want your phonebook" or should the phone say "here, have my phonebook"?

Confused

Hi Dan....don't know if this helps - i've got a galaxy s and mine pairs with no problems (I do have a MY10 - 60 plate)......I went in to - settings - wireless and network - bluetooth settings - scan devices....it then picked up LAND ROVER and asked for pairing code etc and I paired from there....only dropped out once since,

cheers

pete

cant tell you too much about the connection issue.

But about the phonebook:

In the 06 when they were delivered it was only possible to access the phonebook if the phone was in this cradle in the console. (only nokia phones fitted.. quite old stuff now)

Over bluetooth it says in the manual it is not possible.

An update from the nokia Module or a new Module (2010RR or D4) makes it possible.

got the upgraded module and it even shows the signal strengh and the provider name

I forgot: When I first installed the new module my HTC HD2 didnt work with the module.. But as I knew I will buy the Iphone 4 I didnt care.

Dan, I believe the bt module will only save and subsequently auto connect to a limited number of devices (8 from memory). Once you've connected eight units then it's 'memory' is full and no more will auto connect. You can't delete phones from the bt module and the only way I know of to get it working correctly is to replace, and presumably update at the same time, the bt module.

I presume wiggs' reprogramming of the device would clear it - but gather he's no longer doing the upgrades unfortunately. The updated bt module will also allow the address book transfer over bt. The older devices don't support this.

Laughing Laughing Laughing

Not at all , i remember when i had the FFRR TD6 and i used a Nokia N80 (i think) the phone connected straight away as soon as i went into the car , but when i got the SC i had to connect it manually all the time via pairing , and it has been the same with the last nine or so phones including the Censored i-phone Laughing also it won't transfer the phonebook across via bluetooth.

So i just use the phone in the cradle with a Nokia 6230 IIRC and if someone calls me on the iPhone i just get it to divert to the Nokia in the car.

I'm sure Wiggs has stuff that can over ride your problem Thumbs Up ====================================

You guys are the best!

So to summarise:

- it's only possible to do via the cradle and only old phones fit in said cradle...
- I can buy a newer BT module which will allow all sorts of goodness to happen...
- Or I can make do with it as it is...

Hmmm, thanks guys. Has given me things to think about...

I've got an Android (HTC Desire) phone and I got an exchange BT module off Wiggs. I pretty much get full functionality over bluetooth, except for sending and receiving texts.

Phone book uploads fine, all Missed calls, Dialled calls and Received calls are also logged, - I just have the phone in the armrest with a USB power connection from the rear socket and everything is controlled from the steering wheel, or you can use the touch screen - you can even do it all from the phone but that kind of defeats the object.

Will any module up to and including 2010 work?

Mine had a BT module in (2007 model) but it was unreliable and I had pairing problems and it didn't transfer the phone book or the call records, I can't say what works and what doesn't. However if you can borrow one they are only a two minute job to swap and test. Geoff

Ha, Dan, this is quite funny, I was JUST about to ask the same question!

Paired my blackberry but can't see the contacts and won't import either.

Where can I find the updated module and how much $$?

Thanks.
