No, but it had a service not that long ago, probably done 1000 miles since.

There is a chance that the oil filter drain valve may have come off it's post underneath the filter. Worth taking the filter out and having a look. |

Interesting... How does this lead to excessive oil getting into the throttle body / intake pipework, etc? New one on me? <<--- BTW, this is a genuine question! It's not that the oil filter is not correctly installed, it's the drain back valve that comes off it's locating post.

To be fair the car gave all the symptoms of blown turbo's. I discovered the problem of the valve becoming detatched and nobody seems to have mentioned before that this can happen. That's why I say to always check it is firmly in place before installing a new filter. |

Gotcha! So that being dislodged, would lead to the oil filter housing draining down when the engine stopped, leading to a slightly longer time to get oil pressure when starting the engine. Not bunging up the housing drain hole must cause an excess of oil somewhere else (when the engine is running), where it must then find its way into the intake system; via possibly a crankcase vent? Rover V8's used to have this problem (especially on track with lateral G's), where the oil couldn't get back from the heads to the sump quickly enough, leading to it going out through the breather system and being ingested into the intake system. I got black flagged at Mallory Park for this very reason, with a smoke screen behind me, James Bond style! Made a temporary oil catch tank out of a thermos flask and back out for the next session! Turns out that the plenum had split along the seam slightly causing an air leak. Not sure if this was there before or if I damaged it cleaning to be honest...

Chain rivet the seam with pop rivets or self tapping screws. The turbo hits just under 1.5bar above atmospheric so quite a lot of pressure.
