abs fault

hi guys
ive got many error codes from transfer box -transmission -abs ecu -abs sensor and several more i think the issue is a rear abs sensor ,now my thinking is that if i get a new sensor and just plug it in without fitting (old sensor will need drilling out as normal) this should prove (after codes cleared ) if its the sensor or the abs ecu or am i way off the mark ?
thanks will

corrosion on the pins of the ABS unit will trigger a whole host of faults. Pull the ABS lead out and check the pins for corrosion.

If you hook up a new ABS sensor it would only clear the faults if they were caused by a short or open circuit within the sensor itself, it wouldn't prove the sensor was actually working.

If you try to drive the car like that it'll throw up all sorts of issues as the system will assume that wheel is locked up whilst the others are turning as that sensor is not tracking wheel rotation. Fuji White / Jet 2012 4.4 TDV8 Westminster

There is one thing with the abs sensor connector plugs are different colours…..the male connector on the car is blue and the female abs sensor connector is green but as it’s been on the car from me getting it I don’t think it makes a difference..or does it ?

I would check:

-Battery
-Alternator output
-Steering Angle Sensor (calibration + live data)
-Multiplug on the ABS ECU as mentioned above and also the ABS ECU itself

Good luck

hi
battery only several months old and checks good
alternator checked and good
abs ecu has been swapped no change ,but will clean multipin again just in case
steering angle sensor has been calibrated but haven't checked live data ....will do that next.
if it is the steering angle sensor will have to see about a replacement . Thumbs Up

many thanks

If it turns out to be the SAS, you may be able to DIY and program / code with the IID Thumbs Up
You need not take apart the whole dash although you'll need to work in an awkward position in the footwell. Much easier to do with an assistant.

As far as I know +/- degrees is all what's supposed to be displayed. There should be no interruption of the data, however, as you turn from lock to lock.
