Sounds like a good idea as if someone has a secure garage they could hook the car up to a battery charger, hook the laptop upto the mains and leave it powered on over a wifi connection and Storey could just RD into the machine without too much hassle and spend the time he wanted on it as it would likely be in the evenings or suchlike(our time!) so wouldn't be too much of an inconvenience for people as i guess he would want a MkI and MkII varient to check Smile

Sounds like a good idea.
Storeys replly to my email:
"Rob,
The Expert functions were added because I was working with a few people over the internet. These functions allowed the user to retrieve certain configuration strings and email them to me. I have just recently as of this weekend, more or less automated these functions with a built in email client. I will try to add more information on the expert level functions very soon.

I doubt that the X5 modules would work properly. The systems are not really that interchangeable as the fault codes usually change slightly and the actual vehicle ECUs are programmed slightly differently. The part numbers may even be close but the modules can be coded or programmed very differently.

The Body Control module work is progressing. I have just ordered a BCM for testing it should be here shortly.

The TD6 work is going to be more difficult as I do not have the fault codes for the TD6 engine and I do not have access to a TD6 vehicle here in the states.

Let me know if you have any more questions.
Thanks
R. Storey Wilson"
I'm sure Storey would be glad of any help. [img]http://www.fuelly.com/driver/rob2529/range-rover[img/]

Let me know if you have any more questions.

@kingpleb

what you suggest has been done by storey already ..he wanted my bcm fault codes so he remotely took control of my laptop whilst it was connected to my range ..it was weird [and cool] seeing my headlights go on and off knowing they were being controlled remotely by storey in the usa..

As far as I know, the EASC tool is a less comprehensive version of the IID, and both are supplied by the company that Steve's involved with. I believe it only deals with EAS issues, hence it's cheaper than the IID. GAP seems to be a good company to deal with in my experience, as I'm sorting out an IID for my TD6. Steve and Patrick have been very helpful.

Guys in the interest of giving something back I have created my first youtube video relating to the IIDTool. Apart from the rather obvious conclusion that I sound like a northern Censored it might be of use.

And here's the one I did first - I know I should've gone to spec savers and I should've read the manual for both the IIDTool and the camera lol Embarassed
