Bottom dropped out of market?

Looking to upgrade my l322, looking at a 19plate RRSport and an 18 plate RR vogue SE both around 34,000 miles from a local main dealer. Just run both through we buy any car……both came back at £17,000 below asking price!

Comment on a motor sport magazine suggested a 10% drop in values but these seem astronomic.
Seems the L322 will be staying! 2012 tdv8 Westminster arrived Jan 19 gone Dec 23

I have also ( after a long think and various L405 test drives ) decided to keep MY11 and have just given the go ahead for my alloy wheel guy to refurb the wheels, now to put on new front Brembo discs and EBC Green stuff pads at the weekend, and four new tyres Pirelli Zero's with NCS (noise reduction)

Lets hope everything works fine for another couple of years Smile

I think there are certain cars that WBAC and the like just don't want to buy, so they bid ultra-low.

Making various enquiries, I found their pricing to be surprisingly inconsistent.

Or rather their appetite is clearly, largely risk-averse right now...

(Based on a limited sample so I won't be alarmed if I'm wrong!)

I agree with comments above. There is some nervousness with expanding ULEZ zones, that FFRRs will be a pariah. In reality, I think there will always be a market for a good clean cared for Range Rover. I think some dealers will be scared stiff to buy in a Full Fat for fear it break and bankrupt them. Others will be more familiar and know that any old car can have mechanical issues and that maintenance is essential.

I was looking at prices n Autotrader over the last while (not planning to part with my L322, just curious) and I observed Discovery 4 prices are holding well with 2015/16 cars with 50-60k miles are making up to £30k. Discovery 5 models from 2017-18 can be had for £35-40k with 30k miles and Range Rover Sports from 2018/19 around £40-45k with 30k miles also.

I'm not sure if it's Disco 4 prices holding or the others falling sharply hut a RRS seems good value compared to a Disco that is 3 years older with double the miles. I still love the shape of a Disco 4 though.

my view is that the car auction buyers are providing a non realistic outlook on values, as mentioned, I think they are being risk averse and don't want the jeopardy of having a stop of these cars. Privately, they seemed to have dropped in value but not too eye watering. Ive been looking at prices as I may need to chop my 2018MY get into a newer one to comply with the company policy, I'm hoping I can get around £50k for a 2018MY AB. I don't really want to sell it as it has been great so far. First time FFRR owner

The market has nose dived for all used cars, specifically luxury/sports due to the cost of living/mortgage crisis, cost of finance (probably the biggest reason) the cost of insurance (this is up allegedly 60% across the board, not just RR's that suffer), the complete lack of the Police to tackle organised crime/car theft, the ease of stealing modern keyless vehicles, ULEZ cull on diesels/expansions, as well as the fact the recent 3 years has been over inflated prices due to a lack of supply of newer cars, which has now eased somewhat as demand has wavered due to the above.

RR's have always depreciated like a stone as do most expensive luxury cars in similar sectors.

Plan on keeping mine until the next ULEZ wave decides Euro 6 isn’t good enough any more. Wished I had held out for a facelift but is what is

In addition to cost of living / interest rates / thefts / ULEZ, etc.

My thoughts are that L322 prices are dropping due to L405 prices dropping, as a consequence of the L405 not being the 'new shape' anymore... Confused

L322 values seem to be going the way P38's did. But the best will bounce back! I've seen a few average looking P38 RR's go through the classic auctions for very strong money. 1992 RR Classic 3.9 efi Vogue

I'm currently on the hunt for a 2019/2020 4.4 AB and depending on mileage, there's lots on AT for circa £52-£55k.

Finding a good one is where I'm at, atm.

Four major issues affecting Range Rover pricing at the moment,
1. ULEZ expansion as mentioned has pushed many into the unusable in London category. Concerns about other cities are depressing the pricing.
2. Insurance, for many they are now uninsurable so you've not got a car you cant drive where you live and also cant insure.
3. Covid fall out, prices rocketed for all cars during covid and the aftermath of apparent lack of supply - my gut feeling was people had found them selves with cheap finance available and lots of disposible income and the market took advantage of this. Prices are now returning to the value they should have been at all along.
4. Cheap finance is no longer available, the ideal of a 100k mile L405 on a 2013 plate (now a decade old!) being £30k as it was not very long ago and tightening household budgets mean people no longer have the spare income to service a debt on a car they can't insure and can't drive!

All of this turns into people trying to offload cars quickly, prices dropping, dealers apparently do not want them - there is one particular car been on autotrader for months and months, at one time it was the cheapest by a long way at about 18k but the caveat, it needed an engine. There are now several cars that are cheaper by some considerable distance that are runners!

Looking at L322's, summer 2022 I was looking for a 4.2, I went to view several at 8-9k but I just couldn't get my head into the game that they were more money and in worse condition plus 4 years older than when I last sold a 4.2 in 2018! I did eventually find one at a better price but even still the asking of some was crazy. 2005 E60 M5

it seems that Christmas hasn't slowed down the drop, some dealers holding onto prices maybe in the vague hope of someone unsuspecting buying it, whilst others are putting vehicles up each day for slightly less, or cost matching with higher specs.

It'll be interesting to see where it ends up

Car finance is sold on what people can afford on a monthly basis so as this is now higher due to interest rate rises the windscreen price has to drop.Finance companies will have to be more creative on how they structure their packages. End of Jan is a great time to buy from a dealer as they will be looking to shift anything after the Xmas slowdown. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Just checked AT and prices are all over the place for late L332 TDV8’s and there is a lot of them. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)
