Rear suspension odd issue that I can't fathom | |
I'll try to keep it short. 2007 3.6 TDV8 - 273K Miles.
MOT advisory for last 2 years for rear upper suspension bushes. Bit the bullet and replaced them. MOT passed, no advisories.
Thought it wise to go for a Hunter 4 wheel alignment due to new suspension parts and this is where the fun starts.
Garage couldn't get the rear tie rod cam bolts to move at all. So another bullet bitten, two new tie rods. Back to the garage who say the right rear wheel is toe-ing out and there's not enough adjustment provided by the cam bolt to bring it back into line. They suggested maybe fit an adjustable tie-rod (which I'm not even sure exists).
Wondered if anyone else has had anything similar ?
Just as a note: I'm pretty sure I can hear a "donk" type noise when the right rear corner goes under load. I've pulled and pushed at all the suspension joints/bushes but can't see or feel anything wrong. The old girl has done 273K miles so I suspect most of the rubber in all of the bushes is well past it's sell by date. Previous life - 2012 L320 SDV6 - Got divorced, say no more!
