P0814-01 (28) transmission range display issue

Had the P0814-01 DTC pop up in my Westie 4.4 tdv8 when reviewing dtc’s. It was thrown over a hundred miles ago and not seen anything pop up on the console but there seems to be little info on it other than being a “J Gate” issue which I don’t really understand at this point.

No other noticeable issues and wondering if it’s because the shifter was not engaged properly by mistake or if a service is required?

One thing you get used to after a while with the GAP IID is a lot of spurious codes and faults. Glitches, low battery voltages, false errors etc.
Don't worry unless it's persistent fault that reappears after clearing the codes. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

I’ve just had this over the past few days, found the rotary dail would stick in D or R and couldn’t get it to move, switch the engine off and it automatically went to P started up again and it was fine, scanned when I got home and found the same code P0814-01, reset it and turned the car on and off and it’s gone but im not convinced it’s a nothing fault, and have a sneaky suspicion it’ll return. Has anyone any experience with this and the causes and remedy to it. Any help would be appreciated.

The manual seems to indicate that it’s caused by an LED failure and to ‘suspect the transmission shift module’

Thanks Phil, apparently there’s a place on eBay called ElecFIX that repair alsorts of electronic modules do I think I’ll be in touch with them in the future should the fault return. If it does I’ll feedback on here. 👍 Best Regards Lee
