Help! Passenger side deployable side step stuck

Hi people, recently purchased a lovely 2010 4.4 tdv8 with factory fitted deployable side steps. Today when I unlocked the car, both steps came out as normal. I jumped in the car and before I started the engine , I could hear a grinding like noise from the passenger side. Jumped out and found the passenger side step stuck half out.

Opening and closing the doors I can hear the motor but no movement. Tried giving it a bang and push/pull but no luck

Anyone had a similar experience or know where to go from here? Am I looking at a L/H motor?

Thanks

Most likely the pivots on the brackets stiff/siezed

Assume I’d need to remove the brackets and try freeing them off?

Still have my suspicions about the motor though, found this when lying underneath. Looks like the casing on the motor has rotted and the bolts have snapped. Don’t know if it’s worth the bother seeing if it’s repairable or just biting the bullet for a new one…

Fitted new step motor today. Old one had badly seized onto the hinge/bracket, to the point I had to apply heat and gentle persuasion with a hammer. I cleaned both brackets up before fitted new motor and noticed two hairline cracks on the pivoting part of the bracket. Thinking it would be fine, I fitted the new motor and reassembled everything back onto the car. Step now working… for two minutes then the hinge gave way. Now had at order a new front hinge from Maltings at the eye water cost of £225. Ouch Shocked Laughing guessing this car will keep me busy and my wallet empty ha

Got the new bracket delivered and fitted today. Took 30 mins seeing as I have had it off just last week haha. Finally have a working deployable step.

Here is the new one installed

And here is the old one. You can see where it has cracked. Does anyone know if it’s repairable or scrap?

It’s more then likely scrap unless you can find someone to weld it for you.

When you need parts like that, give Rob at Duckworths a shout as he can usually get forum members a bit of discount on parts.

Thanks for the heads up David, will give them a shout in the future. Only had the car two days when the step failed. Fingers cross nothing else unexpected pops up and I can actually get round to sorting the other things that need doing.

Crikey, that's a mess. Not the repair, the old bit.

Is it worth wax oiling the motor casing, or is this a one off?

Cheers

Just seen your in America, part numbers I have listed are for passenger side ( left side ) in the UK.

Right hand side part numbers would be,

Motor : lr004808
Front Bracket : lr004810

Not sure, maybe a one off but going to make sure to give them a dose of ACF50 and lube the pivot points with Wurth HHS2000 every couple of months just to be sure.
