It does nothing, it's simply for mating a new controller to the car. |

All I know is my 2011 Autobiography with all new OE Bilstein dampers rides like an old jeep compared to my non VDS 2012 HSE

Yes it’s a US car. It was optional here on the HSE (which came with the n/a 5.0). Supercharged trucks had it standard for the facelift L322 and L320 2012 Range Rover HSE | 2011 Range Rover Autobiography | 2010 Range Rover Sport Supercharged

Perhaps I was being too hyperbolic - my autobiography with VDS rides quite well but compared to the non VDS 2012 with 19” wheels, it’s definitely more firm. 2012 Range Rover HSE | 2011 Range Rover Autobiography | 2010 Range Rover Sport Supercharged

'Logically' the VDS system should run the dampers at full soft unless the car is cornering which is likley to be a softer setting than non VDS dampers which are a compromise for all conditions. Maybe why LandymanSam found fitting non VDS dampers to his did not improve the ride quality. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322) |

I wish that was the case Jaygee (for my car's at least) as the non VDS ride of my 2009 model was far far far superior to anything since.

To add to the debate, we had a 2003 Vogue HSE with the BMW M62 engine and it definitely rode better than our current 2011 model year TdV8's with VDS. Not that the 2011 cars ride badly, they don't, just not as 'wafty' as the 2003 car, much better round bends though! Drives:

I'd expect that though rvbush and I can cope with some degradation compared to an earlier car but my 3 VDS equipped RRs have been total and utter garbage in this department.
