I'd try it if I could find the procedure for the ZF8HP on the L322. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Tried the adaptive suspension cal but it either did nothing or made it slightly worse. The procedure only lasted a few seconds so I can't see how it can do much apart from resetting any stored values. I tried it on a few different road surfaces and also standing still. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

All I know is my 2011 Autobiography with all new OE Bilstein dampers rides like an old jeep compared to my non VDS 2012 HSE

Your 2012 HSE doesn't have VDS Chdavis?

I had thought all facelift cars had it... we don't have HSE spec on a facelift car here in the UK.

Yes it’s a US car. It was optional here on the HSE (which came with the n/a 5.0). Supercharged trucks had it standard for the facelift L322 and L320 2012 Range Rover HSE | 2011 Range Rover Autobiography | 2010 Range Rover Sport Supercharged

Sounds like the non VDS HSE is my ideal RR chdavis.

All facelift models here in the UK came with VDS/CVD.

Do you notice any other differences between the 2 cars?

Mainly in engine feel (laginess) or steering weight?

'Logically' the VDS system should run the dampers at full soft unless the car is cornering which is likley to be a softer setting than non VDS dampers which are a compromise for all conditions. Maybe why LandymanSam found fitting non VDS dampers to his did not improve the ride quality. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

I wish that was the case Jaygee (for my car's at least) as the non VDS ride of my 2009 model was far far far superior to anything since.

I found when i fitted non VDS dampers to my first facelift it was definitely more comfortable but not leaps and bounds more and certainly not as comfortable as the factory non VDS car.

Perhaps the problem truly lies outside of the VDS system itself and that's why both Landymansam and I didn't see much improvement with new non VDS shocks

To add to the debate, we had a 2003 Vogue HSE with the BMW M62 engine and it definitely rode better than our current 2011 model year TdV8's with VDS. Not that the 2011 cars ride badly, they don't, just not as 'wafty' as the 2003 car, much better round bends though! Drives:

I'd expect that though rvbush and I can cope with some degradation compared to an earlier car but my 3 VDS equipped RRs have been total and utter garbage in this department.

All 3 (Facelift 3.6, facelift 4.4 and now a 4.4 l405) ride like an ox cart jittering, banging and crashing down the road.

I have tried everything and I'm at my wits end with it all.

I've test driven loads of other 322s and 405s and I am convinced either something I'm doing when I purchase each of these cars is 'breaking them' as in my opinion all the others I've test driven are okay or am I completely mad and have a mental problem.

Granted they aren't as comfortable as my first pre facelift 3.6 tdv8 which was 'god tier'
In my opinion and close to beating my 1982 Ford Granada for ride quality.

I need to find someone crazy enough to let me take their pride and joy out for an hour long drive on my own so that I can fully decide if my cars are broken or if they are really truly suppost to be this way I.e. completely and utterly not as described when being called a 'luxury suv' or 's class of 4x4s'

On that note I do need to actually drive an S class to see if they live up to the ride quality hype.
