United Kingdom 2011 Range Rover Autobiography TDV8 Baltic Blue
2011 tdv8 AB 13 pin towing electrics

Hi All
First post on here, recently acquired my 2011 TDV8 Autobiography and loving it. It's my second FFRR having had a P38 years ago.

Car is fitted with factory fit 13 pin electrics and Westfalia detachable hitch, today I hitched up the caravan to tow to South Wales and surprisingly there was no power to the caravan for the fridge or battery charging. All of the lights and Alko stability device are fine, it seems to be only the supply that would come through a split charge relay that is missing.

Questions;
Would a split relay system usually be fitted as part of a factory fit 13 pin electrics?
Is there a fuse I can check for any split relay installation, where would it be located?
Are there different 13 pin looms for general trailers i.e. Goods or horse boxes that don't need the extra electrics that caravans use? (I think the previous owner only ever pulled a horse box, and then not often)
Is it likely I'm just missing a relay or do I need to change the 13 pin loom for one with split relays etc to suit a caravan?

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer

I changed my twin plugs on mine for the single 13 pin type it was plug and go are you sure it's not the caravan? otherwise, check your fuse bank in the rear right side rear.

Not the van, it works fine connected to the Volvo V70. I'll check the fuses in the morning, that the ones on the side where the towbar stows?

That's right, also get into the spare wheel area that`s where the 13 pin connects to the loom double check the plug connection there?

Fuse 8 (15 Amp) in the rear fuse box is the one to check ...

Thanks guys for your replies,

The trailer loom in the wheel well plugs into a socket in the main wiring loom just by the spare wheel, no spare wires and the plug and socket appear to be well plugged together.

I can't see a split relay anywhere, but guess that is perhaps installed in the fuse board on the right of the boot.

There are no spare fuse or relay sockets on the board that have terminals in them and everything is installed as shown on the small schematic diagram below the fuse board

Fuse 8 (15 amp) checks out OK

Can't see anything else to check and don't have a multimeter with me, guess it'll have to wait until I get back to Lincolnshire and get it checked out at Duckworths
