I've got a sealey one and it's been faultless. Doesn't look anywhere near as complicated as these ones! Christian.

Mine’s just packed up after getting 8.5l out. No suction any more. Too messy to strip down so will return it to the seller. Utter junk…,, 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

For anyone having problems but out of guarantee period, you might want to check out my footpump mod earlier in this thread.

It’s very simple to modify and works well, similar principle to using a compressor rather than the built in hand pump.

I do agree though, they shouldn’t be failing , given that most will only be used a couple of times a year, whereas garages must use them every day.

Desperate to get out the oil I took the top off and pulled out the plunger and this seemed to reset something and it worked again. Possibly using it with the valve in the wrong setting or the red cap on the inlet caused a problem?
Looks to be pretty well made so will give it another chance....... 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Today I used my draper for the first time on my ff for its oil change. it’s been used a handful of times for draining my coolant and an oil change on a fiesta.

Today, however, it packed up and stopped sucking. As per JayGee, I popped the top off to have a look, wiggled a valve, and tried again and if made the right noises! So I put it back together and tried again… and happy it’s working as before!

My thinking is that this was the first time it sucked anything close to its limit. It’s possible that the cutoff valve closes but didn’t release properly… maybe due to the gloopy oil?

It may be sensible to empty it before it gets above 8(?) litres? Then do the rest?

And maybe giving the top a good thump would loosen the cutoff valve?

Just a few thoughts in case someone has the same issues… Currently driving: 2012 L322 SE Overfinch 4.4 tdv8
