I am playing with using my iPad mini as a Sat Nav (either using Google maps or Waze) at present, but I have also been reading that I can set up a second app using “split screen”.

Is it possible to use the Gap iid App at the same time?, and thus display live data such as DPF soot level at the same time?

I have not had much success using both, but individually, they are fine.
I have temporarily rigged up a removable mount for my iPad and am hoping someone can offer help.

Use two apps at the same time with Split View

Open an app.
Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to open the Dock.
On the Dock, touch and hold the second app that you want to open, then drag it off the dock.
When the app opens in Slide Over, drag down.

any good?

Is the multi app function on your iPad switched on?

Settings > General > Multitasking and dock > Allow multiple apps.

The Google Maps as a sat nav works well, certainly better than the 2010 maps on my car, but being able to watch the soot level changing as it does a passive regen on a local test run looks promising.

how come the map is overlaid on the gap info and not on a separate screen?

It’s a work in progress..

Tomorrow I am going to try and get the maps as the main screen, with a narrow margin screen showing “ live values”.

If you wish to go to "split screen" rather than in the "slide over" mode you have at the moment you just need to put your finger on the small grey bar at the top centre of the "slide over" and move your finger down the screen. The "slide over"
app will then convert to split screen.
If you wish the map as the larger part of the screen open that app first and then draw up the info app as the side screen and then convert to split screen as above.
Also if you have split screen mode and wish to go back to slide over mode just touch the top grey bar again.
Also if you wish to have the two portions of the screen equal in size or any other configuration just put you finger on the line dividing the two apps and move your finger left or right as you wish and the dividing line will move with your finger.

Simples.

Can see the Anthorn masts about a mile along the coast.
At least our clocks are always correct.
