Hi All

Is the below gearbox oil suitable for a 2005 TD6 auto box?

Personally I wouldn't use it. With the GM box I would stick to the recommended Texaco ETL 7045E John

That would appear to be ZF 8HP equivalent, which is backwards compatible with 6HP Oil, which is also backwards compatible with the ZF5 HP oil

Now, the Ravenol ZF 6/5HP oil is also suitable for the GM5 box, but whether that specific oil is Compatible for a GM5, I wouldnt like to say for sure...

That’s supposedly a generic fluid ‘suitable for’ the ZF transmissions, not for the GM unit, which requires Dexron III (now superseded by Dexron VI).

As Weegie stated, the original Land Rover specification was for Texaco Texamatic 7045E, but Dexron VI will be fine if you can’t get hold of any. To be honest getting the exact fluid is the least of your worries with the 5L40-E Crying or Very sad

That's cheap Bow down

I only wish we done enough work with the GM5 box to justify keeping some Laughing

My problem with the gm5l40 on my td6 is finding a replacement filler level plug for the chewed up one on the gearbox so I can check it or an alternative to TGZ000060.

The equivalent BMW part is 24 11 7 507 787.
Is TGZ000060 no longer available?

Thank you for the BMW part number will see if have any luck with local BMW dealer, Local Land Rover dealer here in Lincoln has no idea when it will be back in stock if at all ever ! If I could get it out chap I know could no doubt turn one up for me (no cnc machines all done the old fashion way) but if its available to buy I would sooner go that way.

The thread is M18 x 1.5 x 12mm, if that helps, so it’s fairly generic. Good luck with your search.
