Battery Isolator switch and locking the doors

I'm having the usual battery drain problems which I still haven't managed to track down.

In the interim I was looking to put in a battery isolator switch, but my question is whether it's possible to lock the doors with the bonnet open while outside the car?

Thanks in advance.

If you hold down the bonnet swicth that operates the alarm, and I think the bonnet open warning, you may be able to lock the doors.

You'll be B Censored D for getting in if you then shut the bonnet with no battery. Unless you get power to the car via the towbar electrics. I have seen that mentioned with, IIRC, a duff battery. Have a search.

Also fill in your car profile to help us. Thumbs Up Cheers

I've a MY11 4.4. Is my profile not showing up right?

In terms of opening doors, I thought you can always do that with the physical key? Is there some specific alarm states that prevents that from happening?

You can pull the bonnet alarm pin upwards and then the car thinks the bonnet is closed and it will allow it to lock Thumbs Up

My bad Torjak re key Embarassed

What about using a CTek charger or similar? Can be fitted with a permanent connector, would work at home if you have a nearby outlet. Could be useful down the line in keeping the battery in good charge if something else happens. As for me I use an Aldi £13.99 one at the moment, been OK so far.

There's threads about battery drain on her too which may help. If you get it sorted, let us know the outcome, always helpful. Thumbs Up

Profile now fine, mabe my tab missed it. Cheers
