Had the same dilema 5 years ago and was "encouraged" to go 4.4i V8 with LPG by a friend and definately no regrets |

you said yourself you didnt like the td6 so with your budget the only option is the 4.4. petrol or another car.

I would agree with the comments on the TD6. Pulling away its a bit of effort and you do hear the engine working when getting up to motorway speed. My expectations are that a remap will sort these issues out.

The TD6 could do with some more grunt on the motorway but i just thought it correct to stick up for my old girl.... |

Once you are up to speed, does it matter what engine is pulling you along? The FFRR is not about quick handling, so both waft you along.

I think the hot running issues you're referring to where in the P38, the 4.4 M62 seems to be widely accepted as a great engine for conversion now. The shorter range of the LPG converted car is a slight issue, and you need an LPG filling station at a decent price nearby. However frequent filling with LPG isn't as bad as you might think, all the time you're there you're conscious of the extra 60 pence per litre you aren't paying in tax! Range Rover-less at the moment - Pining! |

Good point Dan, not sure when the thread was written, but conversion costs seem too high. I just paid around £2k to convert my Supercharged, with a two year warranty. If I was to do 20k miles, at 15 mpg on Gas, instead of 17 on petrol, I would save around £2,900 per year, so less than one year payback.

Land Rovers attitude to LPG is very "Grey" When my LPG system was fitted, from years 3-5 my car continued to be serviced at a main dealer under the VIP package and any warranty issues were dealt with immediately. At the end of the 5th year I had a second new radiator fail which was replaced under warranty. Less than a year later the radiator again failed so they once again replaced it free of charge under the parts warranty but when the same thing happend again 10 months later they decide that the part wasn't covered under warranty a second time as they took the date from when the previous failure occurred. |
