Cylinder number 8 multiple misfire code

Just got my first flashing service engine soon message. Iidtool says multiple misfire and misfire cylinder 8. Got me home but too cold 17 degrees F, F as in efing cold, to do anything today. Any first thoughts on what to look for?

I just had EML light for the first time ever and multiple misfires and turned out that when I removed the battery to charge I had left the positive terminal very slightly loose.
I had all sorts of faults and was cranking over much longer than usual and also stuttering on the motorway in time with the yellow EML warning light.
Tightened it up and all ok.
Is your battery ok ?

Hmmm. I have a quick disconnect installed. Perhaps the very cold days and warm engine has loosened the screw connection. I will check tomorrow. When I went out all was great. Left the store with a new phone and upon starting and backing out a funky hesitation and power steering was ratchety. Service light flashed before I had it in drive.

when i was trying to start mine it would do a sort of half start and then stop and then it would start but with a cough or it would turn over for a lot longer than usual before starting.
My alternator is charging at around 14.2 volts on idle which may be a little low, can't remember what it should be.
I took it out last night and it is going great again and starting fine after tightening the battery terminal

So far i have swapped the #8 coil with #5 and then the plugs. No change. Still shows misfire on #8 but a couple of time #6 was added in. Haven't gotten to ohm out the fuel injector. Besides this anything I could be missing?

Going to take a wild guess and say no but guessing you don’t have lpg? The log injectors go bad on these I have had experience of this in my ff... however if you don’t could it be a blocked injector? I have no idea though so that is just a wild guess now... Current stable:

Gone:

What other codes are you getting and what diagnostic kit are you using ? have you cleared the faults and they return and is the EML light still coming on ?

Have you checked your battery terminals yet and charging voltage ?

You could check that the injector loom is connected correctly, the rectangular black box with all the injector connectors underneath held in place with 2 nuts, those connectors can be a bit fiddly.
i would check through all the other systems with the diagnostic kit as i had loads of faults in things like instrumentation which were all caused by my dodgy battery connection.

Battery and charge good. Checked my quick disconnect but it was tight. I hope to ohm out the injector tomorrow and will inspect wiring then. Iidtool and yes codes return within 30 seconds or about. Obviously running rough. I hope it becomes obvious with a dead injector or a disconnected wire. I miss the old beast.

I have a new coil for future reference and a reconditioned injector on the way. Meanwhile I put the automotive stethoscope to the injectors. All sound the same. So what does this leave me with?
Swapping coil position = no change.
Swapping spark plug = no change
Injector ticking regular at least at idle when I can test it
- tick means it is working and getting power
- if getting power then computer must be good?
Clogged injector?

Tricky, i am still thinking something like battery maybe.
if you go through all the systems with the IID tool are you getting any other faults returned ?

Do you get codes with the IID or just description.

Mine is mainly behaving now but i also noticed my power steering is a bit notchy too.

I was driving mine yesterday and i couldn't believe how well it was going and pulling up hill to 70 mph and hardly having to touch the accelerator, today driving it feels like my breaks are on and fuel consumption has changed from 17.2 to 16.8! blood y cars Confused

The other thing was my battery was dead flat after only a week of standing where normally it is fine after standing for 2 weeks which could mean the cold weather has stuffed my battery partially.

Well I realized I have checked power to the coil yet. When the weather breaks this weekend I'll give it a check.
