New Zealand 2010 Range Rover Autobiography 5.0 SC V8 Galway Green

The difference with the D3 is that if you go and do the Gaz mod to it, you'd probably still have some money left over from the Defender sale Wink.

I have never liked spartan cars, maybe I was old before my time in that respect (still ride motorbikes though Confused Confused Confused ) and would always choose comfort in whatever car I pick (hence the cheap of S320 I have here). Life is too short to not drive in comfort especially if you have to go for a bit of distance or be in the car a lot. It was obvious that you were trying to make the Defender a comfortable car but it would never ever be as comfortable as the much more modern Ds and RRs.

Again I like the Defender and even if I'd get a super comfy (as far as possible) Twisted version, I'd probably still pick a D3/4.

Then I don't car about looks or image as much as I do about comfort and practicality.

Hopefully this D3 is also super reliable and only needs regular TLC i.e. maintenance Smile MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

Oh how wrong you are! D3 modification never ceases to swallow copious amounts of money! Big Cry Laughing

Just working out how best to wire a second pair of aux lamps and I've persuaded myself that it will hinge on adding a second battery and, wait for it, 22 relays and 40 different colours of wire just to get the functioning that I want. Rolling with laughter

My modifications have been simple ones, like seat covers and a boot liner to stop the dog hair ruining it.

It already has adaptive xenons so will be fine enough on winter nights driving home, not sure it needs much else TBH Discovery 4 HSE

After a few months reading the forum, you'll soon find your wishlist growing. Wink

I have adaptive xenons also, and very good they are too, but always room for improvements!

Going to do any performance mods? A remap, big intercooler and decat makes for a nice cobination. Mr. Green

You can get rid of those pesky EGRs too. Thumbs Up Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

Shocked you should get your design reviewed by the chap who reviews my schematics. It'll be rapidly changed to a switch and some wires, maybe a fuse. Whistle Ed

That's how it started out... Laughing

It's for 4 lamps - 2 driving, 2 spot - with dipped and main beams each, so 4 relays needed already, but using high wattage bulbs, so opting for one per filament for the best reliabilty. I want to make use of the available beam combinations but need it to be useable, meaning a minimal number of switches and automation where possible. A large chunk of the circuit goes into the flip flopping of three momentary selection buttons and creating the logic for them, and the end interface is that plus two rocker switches. Thumbs Up

(Edit: Oh, and the second battery is just because there's no room on the battery side, so need to shift across and may as well fit the battery too. Wink )

Anyway, Off Topic, so back to Adam's D3. Thumbs Up Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

Does it have the remote for FBH Adam?

My D4 had the fbh but no remote. Was an easy job an a bit of enabling to get it working on the remote! Thumbs Up There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

No factory option on the D3 - the early ones had timer settings via the head unit, but it caused trouble and was removed in the enhancement programme. You can get controllers though (to work from the key fob 3rd button, a timer or by phone). Thumbs Up Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

Ah, on the D4 you can plug the receiver in behind one of the rear side panels, the plug is already there! Sounds trickier on the D3 then Rolling Eyes There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Very easy really. Just one wire to the FBH plug, plus the applicable connections according to the type of controller. Thumbs Up Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

NO FBH remote sadly, no timer for it either. Might look into this over the summer months.

Just back from a few days in Warsaw to find my new number plates have arrived and the oversize D4 black and silver oval badge for the front grille. Lovely Jubbly. Discovery 4 HSE

Best bet is to go the GSM route for the fbh if you can 👍 FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's
