New Zealand 2010 Range Rover Autobiography 5.0 SC V8 Galway Green

To me it makes perfect sense Adam and I think it was a very smart move your side. More money in the bank and a nicer driving car that is a lot more practical.

I agree that Defenders are lovely looking vehicles but reliability and comfort are two words that do not go with them.

Although I don't have any of my own experience with Discos, from what I read on the Blackbox forum for example, it seems that it is similar to the FFRR i.e. you can have a great one without any issues or you can have a lemon. It is just the luck of the draw.

I would not consider a Defender as a second car ever but most certainly consider a D3 or D4 Smile. Or in case I can't afford a nice FFRR anymore a Disco as my first would certainly be an option Smile MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

Eugene,

I can tell I'm getting old as I am loving the practicality of the D3 layout.

Clearly it's not a match luxury wise to the SC AB, but I'm comparing it to the Defender which was a great car in 1983 but times have changed even though that car did not! Discovery 4 HSE

I loved those conversions you did Gaz, as you know. If I had found a Tonga green one I would have gone fully down that route. Discovery 4 HSE

Hmm have to say I'd agree and have kept the Defender. But then I'm 5'10" so don't have issues with space. I did come from a Series 3 hard top though! Glad I never sold the 110 in the end, by all accounts I have a slightly rare one because it was an early one with factory fit no EGR 300Tdi.

Waaay more reliable than the RR has been, has never stranded me. In fact in 9 years its "broken down" twice. The first was on the way to a shoot when I lost most of the power. Ended up the last garage to service it left a sump plug washer inside the air filter (the main reason I prefer doing my own work on vehicles) and that shredded the turbine blades. Still got me home though. New turbo courtesy of the garage. The second time was after leaving it standing for 2 months with an 8 year old battery and at -4 failed to start. Treated it to a new battery!

Adam am I right in thinking you had a 90? I know it doesn't compare to a D3 or FF but given a choice I would never have a 90 again. I had the 88 and that was immense fun but more than a few hundred miles was difficult. My sister had a 90 Td5 and the 300Tdi 110 was miles above it in terms of road manners and comfort. Hers was a hard top to SW conversion and my 110 was factory built CSW and you could tell. The 110s are much more planted on the road and on the majority of off-road stuff find them better than a 90 as one axle tends to have grip.

It wasn't D3 comfort but I was regularly taking 10 people and 6 labs in it at shoots, don't need a heater then! So I think it has the D3 on people carrying (and they had "seats").

But hey hi I'm biased, now must really finish the EGRs on the FF so I can spend some time to look after the 110! But it keeps soldiering on relentlessly. Ed
