After market air suspension compressor

Hi all I need advice on the air suspension compressor. My factory one has just about died and I am thinking of putting in a aftermarket one. Eg TJM, ARB. now I can't see why it cannot work as it would be just wired into the old wiring so that everything still work when I wanted it to. Has anyone done this to there's???. A replacement here in Australia will cost me around $700aus. or a aftermarket one for say 300 plus a little more for it to be wired in by a person. Please throw me some thoughts good or bad.

Can't see why it won't work, you will need to split the original and just change the compressor, there are two exhaust valves and a temp sensor, the temp sensor is removable from the old pump, I'd fix it to the new pump somehow and isolate the two exhaust valves... these will all have to be connected or the EAS ECU won't like it and will throw faults...

Will just take some playing with...

Have you tried a new piston ring on your old compressor, it's usually them that go, the motors tend to be OK... if it's just putting out a low amount of air then this usually works... Some on ebay... Pete

I second the piston and ring replacement.
If you put an ARB TJM its going to be super noisey, and I dont think these will last long anyway.

You do realise that the EAS system runs at nearly 200 psi, not sure how a tyre pump would fair running at that load or temp.

If you strip the pump and the liner in the cylinder is not scored then a new piston ring will sort it out. However, if the pump has stopped all together, the chances are that the liner is fubar'd. I realise that your on the other side of the world and carriage is an issue, but, there was a mob in Germany, selling a new cylinder and piston kit on fleabay. It might have been advertised for the Audi, but when you get down to the guts they are pretty much the same, they are all Wabco, and I'm sure that they could help. Cos if you ain't paying to ship the motor you save yourself heaps Thumbs Up Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

Last year I gave the car a Christmas present of a new EAS pump, it set me back £299, that's $639, so your price is not that outrageous. Just had a look on fleabay and they seam to be around £289 ($618), so your still not that far off your price with the carriage, and it's already a month nearer to you! Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer...
