Help please - water in oil

Hi

I can't find my handbook but I have a warning light "water in oil check handbook"

I have a 2011 4.4 TDV8 and it went to the dealer for a few bodywork jobs including the brake recall. I drove home fine but within a short distance to the house this warning appeared.

I have let the car cool and restarted - the light is still there. Should I call LR assist or see what happens? I haven't filled up with fuel for a while and it was fine before.

Thanks Roy 2005 L322 Vogue Gold gone

Call LR... water in oil is not good and has nothing to do with putting fuel in it.... Pete

I knew there was a water sensor in the fuel circuit but not in the oil?

It will be water in your fuel not oil , I don't know if you have a fuel separator to drain it off but I guess there is one somewhere. I would be tempted to treet your tank to some Fuel Set because it sounds like you have crap diesel from your last fill up ! 2008 MY Supercharged

Either that or (like my poor mum) the tank cap wasn't on properly and rain water made it into the tank !!! My dad spent hours getting it all out of the tank Sad.

Another problem could be (but highly unlikely IMHO) is water/coolant in the engine oil. However, I'm not aware of a sensor in the oil to detect water. On my 4.2 both heat exchangers blew (first coolant into the ATF and a month later coolant into the engine oil and vice versa (oil in coolant)). This was a known issue on the 2006 heat exchangers not only in FFRRs but also in other cars with the ZF 6 speed (found it on an Australian forum on the ZF). Anyway, I don't think it is this issue but just in case you do find water in the engine oil or ATF, this could be the cause (even though those heat exchangers should be much better since 2006/2007 one should think............). MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

Sounds like water in the diesel, can't even find the warning light description for that in the manual. On the hilux we have there is a drain at the bottom of the fuel filter, to remove the water. It may be the same on the ffrr. Chances are it will need resetting by the dealer or Iid tool. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
