Would you go for a 3.6tdv8 or 3.0tdv6?

Ive heard the tdv8 is a lot thirstier, but the is quite sluggish but better economy wise.

If I got a 3.0 and remapped it, would it be as quick as a TDv8, but keep it's better fuel economy?

depends on your budget but with the tdv8 you'll get an upgraded interior..

TDV8 is leagues ahead of the TD6.

What about the MPG issue?

If you want economy a Range Rover probably isn't the best choice in any case. TD6 spoils the car, TDV8 is better in every respect.

I want the best economy that I can get...

My last car was a 4.2sc facelift FFRR....This time I'd just like something a bit better on fuel.

A Range Rover should have a V8 engine! Ideally petrol but if you have your mind set on Satan's fuel, let it at least be V8!

Better economy but only just (unless remapped)

2 EGR's & EGR coolers as well

The much more advanced complexity of the TDV8 has its downfalls and the engine is much less common.
TDV8's in SSRR's seem to suffer reliability issues a hell of a lot, FFRR nowhere near as much but still niggles like Alternator and starter motors.

Horses for courses really. I've driven both(and both versions of the TDV8 and in the SSRR as well) and like my TD6. the FF isnt for speed and if you want that then the SC is the choice for you. The TD6 has done me proud pulling the tin tent and some recoveries and is quiet and smooth for such a large diesel and wont win any speed races. FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

I run a small fleet of Land Rovers and Range Rovers and can compare all the models back to back. There is very little difference between a JE remapped TD6 and a std 3.6 TDV8. A TD6 will do everything you want as long as you don't expect to drag race with it.

The JE mapped vehicle would do 60 in just under 10 seconds. The facelift 06 MY vehicles are a world apart from the earlier vehicles - a lot quieter and more refined due to the acoustic laminated side windows and additional sound insulation, plus better sat Nav, reverse camera, tv and quite a few other refinements.

If you want raw power go for the 4.4 TDV8 or a supercharged.
