Sounds like poss symptoms to me. It's not a costly item to replace, and a common failure point as you know, so would be my next step.

I'm having issues with my new one similar to what you describe. My original problem was fan on full all the time, so I'm pretty sure I've introduce a new intermittent fault with the new one.

Update! Ordered a new FSR and fitted it today, what a ball ache of a job! I was at some very odd angles under the footwell trying to get the out, couldn't get the multi clip off, couldn't get it back in. I hope I don't have to do that again in a hurry. Still - it HAS fixed the problem so I was well chuffed when I turned the fans in full and they worked
