Very timely. Mine went a couple of weeks ago and I was just looking up how to fix.

Thanks Welshdragon, very helpful. On my 2004 the guide pins and tracks are different. The tracks on the housing are molded in and closed. The pin on the bottom is metal but the upper pins are small about 8mm ovals. One that broke won't glue with ABS glue. Trying superglue. The other one is gone. Not sure how to sort that one out yet but will post a pic when I do. Obscene price is the mother of invention.

I had a look at mine again before I started stripping it down and found a half melted sweet, a small crayon and a 2p coin in the bottom. After a bit of fiddling with long nose pliers and a screwdriver with blue-tac on the end (to lift out the coin and broken crayon bits) its closing again |

OK mine is back in. Only one ABS guide pin is holding but is is working. Probably won't use it much but it looks much better. All kinds of stuff under the main console just forward of the shifter. Total puzzlement how it got there. |

I did a similar fix on ours yesterday. I used a couple of small screws to replace the two broken pins (I only spotted one broken pin last time). I did have to enlarge the grooves with a dremel, but one of the abrasive bits was just the right size so it was fairly straight forward.
