gearbox problem

Hi everyone
sorry to say its my 1st post after introducing myself.
I have the rr vogue 54 plate td6.hav'nt had it a week yet and already on my way to transmission specialist in cannock tomorrow.
picked car up on saturday no problems private sale so had my eyes wide open after trawling through forums to get advice.
started yesterday at very slow speed and I mean slow like 2 - 3 mph in drive put my foot on the brake pedal and as the cars trying to go forward
there's a deep pulsating vibration through the car noticable in driver and passenger seat. Definetly drive related was wondering if anyone has had a similar experience. The car has done 113,000 miles and gearbox reconditioned at 75,000 mls new torque converter fitted receipt to prove
thanks for any replies.
Greg.

Hi jonno
tickover is around 750 dont think thats to high. The vibration goes through the car and very noticeable
torque converter locks up around 50 - 55 and can lock up around 35ish. Going on rolling road tomorrow at cannock
hopefully it will be a good outcome. Person I bought it off seamed very genuine with lots of receipts + the one for the recon box.
I'm really enjoying the comfort of the car its loverly to drive the interior is out of this world in beige leather and would hate to think
this is going to cost a lot.
What tickover do you think is ok as the car is new to me. I'm pretty handy with the spanners and always
done oil changes brakes etc but not the big bits as I havn't got the facilities. This is also my first automatic
Thanks. Greg.

Hi Greg,
Tick over should be 790+- 50 in neutral so your ok there.
Any auto car will "creep" forward at tickover whilst in drive.

For piece of mind you're doing the right thing - get it checked.

If it's got 20's the vibration is escalated.

Does your newly purchased RR have larger than 18" alloy's on by chance? If so, the vibration is absolutely normal... Plenty to read on the net about the driveshaft vibration issue (hence JLR only selling the early TD6 with 18" wheels) In 2006 JLR made the driveshafts a couple of mm longer or shorter??? to resolve these issues Thumbs Up
The 4.4 petrol model had 19" & 20" wheels so your car may have been retro fitted with petrol model sized wheels Wink
Most on here with TD6's fitted with bigger wheels just put up with the vibration and or put in "N" when stopped at traffic lights etc Thumbs Up

Probably down to a driveshaft or hub unit then my friend... Well worth getting checked out by a gearbox specialist though Thumbs Up

Thanks for all your suggestions, been to cannock today not rolling road (me getting confused) but a good road test
neil said everything gearbox wise is doing what it should and if he was the one going to buy it he would on the basis everything is working on the car. I will be booking in with him for oil and filter change within the next few weeks. I can highly recommend him as he was very professional and put me at ease.
cam-tech-craig
will be looking at hub etc soon as I have a hum and wowowo sound coming from the front (could make a song out of that) anyway back to the thread, which increases and decreases with road speed.
so glad its not gearbox as me and the mrs love the car, best car we ever had for comfort.
so thanks again all information may just help someone else. Thumbs Up
greg.
