Easy job, get the filter, gasket and new bolts from Dan@Duckworths.

Make sure you can undo the filler before you drain the oil. |

I wouldnt trust what LR say. ZF recommend servicing and they make the gearbox

did mine at the weekend easy job ,i was on a lift,took about 2 hrs,you do not have to use texaco oil,i used millers sp 111,i rang them and this was the best oil they do ,i also rang the gearbox company in hilton and he said it is not special oil needed .mine seems smoother now. |

You have to remember "changing" the transmission oil on a GM 5L40E as fitted to a TD6 only changes about 6L out of a total capacity of 9.7L in the system ie about 60%.

I'll be doing mine soon and I plan to do 3 changes to really get it as close to all fresh as possible. My question is though, when do you change the filter? On the first or the last change? |

I changed my filter during the third change on the basis the first and second changes I considered as a flushing process.
