I use a LR trained indy in my village which should not be too far away from you.

Only just caught up with this thread. Almost a year to the day my 45000 mile Sport did exactly the same and after a fuve month battle with LR to get an engine and a contribution I eventuLly got one with 85% contribution from LR. Had car a day and backed it with a strange rattle which was eventually diagnosed as the torque converter not done up during heRt transplant. Cause of failure was turbo exploding and pumping 7 lts of oil into exhaust. Turbo was less than 10k miles old TDV8 Vogue SE 2009.

I thought I would add to this topic rather than start a new one. My TDV8 (09MY) had exactly the same issue (loss of power, smoke, engine would not start). It was relayed to the garage and they said that both turbos had gone. In one the seals had failed, which drained the oil, causing the other one to seize. New intercooler required as well. Fortunately the engine was OK. Bill just shy of 5K. The car has done 118k miles (Vogue SE). I asked what I might have done wrong, and was given the usual "always do your services at a main dealer". I had the Inspection 1 done at a dealer in August. Mechanic said that the turbos should last several hundred thousand miles and could not explain why the seals had gone. Slightly frustrating.

Thanks, I am having similar issues with my 2015 4.4 at the moment and thought the problem may be the same, but as you say 3.6, I'm not sure now. thanks anyway. |
