Does anyone know if the 2.7 TDV6 pistons/connecting rods fit the TDV8 engine? |

I've just been on the phone to the garage earlier today, so far they have found the left side turbo seized solid and the right side has loads of play in it so that's knackered too. Now they are going to strip down the block and see if it's done any damage to the engine.

I don't know the answer to that. I suspect only if you had a dynamic failure not if it had "just" seized

Some good news this morning...there doesn't appear to be any damage to the engine block or pistons following a full strip down. The Cylinder heads are been sent away to be pressure tested to see if they were causing the crankcase to pressurise and then skimmed to be refitted. Will keep this thread updated so it can maybe help someone in the future... |

Just as a note, the tdv8 was never offered in the gulf states, now to a large degree why would they as petrol is cheaper than water.

Average temperatures for say Saudi Arabia and inland WA are roughly the same ( fuel is bit more expensive mind ) and you largely only get Desisels here , so Land Rover must have some confidence in the cooling but i do get a guilty smugness knowing my engine can't lunch on its turbo's and it is said that Spurts eat more turbo's than Fatties because of lack of space and heat build up. 2008 MY Supercharged

Another update, it looks like what caused it is the oil pump failing so they are replacing that along with 2 new turbos. It burnt a valve out due to oil filling one of the cylinder heads and it also did a head gasket on one side as well. Hoping to get it back at the end of this week with a bill for just shy of 4k...better than a new engine I suppose! |

Good ish news, did they strip the bottom end as well, just as a thought if they have got it in that many pieces it may be worth asking them to replace wearing surfaces on bearings and anything at the top end which shows any signs of wear whlst it is apart, pretty much a reconditioned engine then...... There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I can't PM you because I have not yet submitted enough posts to qualify apparently. I see you are located at MK not too far from me in Cambridgeshire and since my car is now out of warranty I will need to find a good Indy who knows the TDV8 L322, for routine servicing and repair so would be grateful if you would PM me with his location and contact details. |

Depends where you are in Cambs but I know a good indie Cambs/Norfolk border who look after a lot of L322's. Approved LR service agent so even new vehicles under warranty can be serviced by them but labour charges are considerably less!! |

I'm in the far southwest of Cambs but a good Indy is worth traveling to! At the moment, the only recommendation I have had from a reliable source is for a guy up in Bury Lancs so your recommended Indy is a little nearer and details via PM would be appreciated. |
