OK - So loads on here about the best winter tyres to get but.... Do most of you have a winter set and a summer set. I read a lot about winter tyres getting too hot and sticky in the summer.

unless you live half way up a mountain i dont see the point of a winter set...the range rover on normal tyres is more than capable of coping with the general winter weather we get , and tbh those of us who live in towns/citys ,the roads are normally cleared quickly...

Er...me and a spare set of wheels to keep them on. I agree that for most of us they are a luxury, but if you wan the case for winter tyres - http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic21911.html |

The common understanding is that winter tires are better than summer at below 7 degrees C. In my part of the UK, that is from November to April! |

Or how about something like these as a spare/winter set?

Same over here in the Netherlands... November till end March sometimes early April. Furthermore in some neighboring countries winter tyres are mandatory so when crossing the borders you should have them. Also living in the country and towing a horse trailer I certainly vote for winter tyres.

As in another thread on the subject, I have used Hankook Ventus since 2010 - the same set, and they've been very good over the last two Winters. Changing them this week for a further set of the same, and only now because a collapsed rear wishbone bush has caused uneven wear. I don't have a second set of 'Winters', these are great for all seasons. |
