Got a full set of Hankook Ventus ST's fitted to my FFRR in the last couple of months and have now got a weird vibration through the steering. Had the wheels rebalanced twice...but not sure the tyre fitters have done a proper job of rebalancing.
Getting my Indy to swap the wheels for a set of alternatives off another FF to see if that cures the vibration, but not getting that done till next Friday.
Just wanted to find out if there's anybody out there who's had these tyres fitted and what the general feedback is.

Vibrations aside, the tyres seem really good. Excellent grip in wet and dry, quiet and seemingly hard wearing. I'm hoping it's just a proper balancing job required to cure the prob, but would like to hear any feedback from the good folks on this forum.

I thought that myself at first, but they're definately fitted in ihe right direction! I've checked...and checked...and checked...LOL!!

Maybe one of the tyres is faulty happened one of my nexens havent changed it yet but getting vibration through steering wheel.It was only apparent when spinning on the balancing machine. Mine is front left that needs replaced. Present :2008 TDV8 HSE

try swapping fronts to the rear and give it a run see if anything changes.
On a balancer you will see any tyre imperfections on the spin cycle

Hankook Ventus should be OK....

Remember, the FFRR needs to be in high tolerance mode (done using IID or similar) for alignments. It may be the same for dynamic balancing.

On the easy side: Did you check to see if any wheel weights fell off? (Sorry if that's too basic, but it occurred that it may not be something complicated.)

Thanks for the replies guys, I'm getting the tyres checked out on Friday at my local Indy garage. The owners have a 2003 FFRR and they're going to swap the wheels over from mine to check them out.
Hopefully it's just a proper balancing job that's required to fettle them.
I did check that none of the weights had fallen off, the wheels seem okay...but we wont be able to tell until the swap-over. Till then it's just a case of living with the vibration.

I've used Hankook tyres before...got the V12 EVOs on my Mondy ST220, with the 225/40/18 alloys, and had the Dynapro ATMs on my old 300TDI Disco, they've always been good tyres. That said, there's always the chance of getting a bad tyre...or even a batch...as I got all four tyres from the same spot.

I've got 20" version of Hankook Ventus (275.45R20) on my full fat. Been on for over two years and have done over 40,000 miles to date. Very happy with them, but edges just going off now. Hope you sort your vibration problem!

I have been running these on my Rangie for approaching 40,000 miles.Like bigmamma above mine are just starting to go off now and will have to be changed soon.Good mileage for a tyre on a heavy jeep though.

Great tyre,great value for money,quiet,hardwearing and good in the wet,snow and greasy roads.

I had a similar problem with a different brand tyre on my other car,multiple times back for balancing which didnt work as had a noticeable vibration at motorway speed.The tyre fitter replaced the tyre and immediately vibration went away.They said the odd tyre will have a manufacturing defect and throws the tyre out of balance that no amount of counterweights will fix.When we looked at the inside of the tyre there was a flaw on the inside of the tyre and there was the problem..!!

Other issues it could be are tracking/geometry,warped wheel or brake discs maybe..??

Got the wheels swapped over on the FF last friday, but didn't manage to get a proper run out on the tyres as the weather was awful. Couldn't tell much from the run, too much water on the roads to see if the slight judder had stopped or not.
My local indy reckons it's deffo a balance issue though. Gonna get the wheels and tyres match balanced (and checked out for defects as well) at my local stealers when I get the Hybrid TV sorted, a week come Friday.

So will give a final update at the end of next week.

40,000 miles!!!!

In the past year I've bought 5 sets of tyres.

Summer tyres for the RR
Winter tyres for the RR
Winter tyres for the VX
Summer tyres for the VX
Tyres for the SP2 motorcycle (only 2!)

If I get 40k from each of those sets, given the number of cars/bikes I have, the fact that I only use each set half a year, and my mileage, I shouldn't need to buy another set for....calculating.....16 years.

...no wait, they expire after 8.

Yep, gotta agree with you, BIGMAMMA. They're good tyres, I've used Hankooks on my Mondeo ST220 and on my old Disco 300 TDi and they've been bloody good!!
I am just hoping that my slight judder is just cos the wheels and tyres need match balancing, they've been great in the crappy weather recently...especially when the roads have been waterlogged (flooded!!). Will update on Friday once the stealers have had a go doing a match balance.

Update...got the tyres match balanced today and what a difference. Lovely and smooth now.
