I am running 255/55/20 vredestein wintrac tyres & since fitting feel that I can feel every bump in the road. I had them re balanced today which has not changed anything & am wondering if I should lower the pressues or this is a characteristic of them I need to get used to until Spring? Any advice gratefully received

What pressures are you running?

33 36 is normal but less if your in car on your own mostly 31 34.

Think you will have 255/50x20 on your car.

You can run standard pressures but we find +4psi above standard un-loaded pressure works for most.  Andy....

Thanks Googsy am running 36 rear & 32 front when cold will lower them a bit in the morning. I have ruled out anything else as on totally smooth tarmac its lovely. However when the wife says her 407 is a smoother ride on most the roads around here it hurts your feelings  Worse things happen at sea! Well thats what swmbo said when WRENS came to sea!!!

Thanks to Andy, just braced the cold to nip out to the garage & they are 50 so what exact pressure would you recommend? Give them a try at 36F and 40R, as I said this works well for most.

Do not forget...........to low a pressure will cost you more in fuel and will cause the outside shoulders to wear.

Also running to high a pressure will cause the centre of the tyre to wear more than the rest of the tyre but will give better fuel economy, the pressure I recommend is about where it is best for the Wintrac.

Tyre pressures are a recommendation which you can adjust to suite your requirements and what works best for you.

50psi is way to high IMHO but I don't think you should drop below 32F and 36R.

put 33 front and 36 rear to start with and adjust up or down for comfort.. ... - .- -.

I think he was talking about the tyre size!! Mike had originally said his tyres were 255/55/20, AJS had said they must be 255/50/20.

Think Mike was just confirming they were 50's

Now im confused lol, To confirm I was verifying the tyre size as I had mistakenly put 55  Worse things happen at sea! Well thats what swmbo said when WRENS came to sea!!!
