Well, got the old one out. Pretty easy actually - with access mode (thanks for the tip - but I knew about it), and by standing on the wing to lift it out.

The battery is FIAMM by the way. It's had a tough time starting her sometimes when I had a dodgy injector, but it's still only 15 months old.

What's this bonnet access mode? I assume its something that gets the bonnet a good bit higher than normal for better access to the battery location? 4.4 TDV8 Vogue Baltic Blue MY11 |

^ Yes. You undo the clips on the gas struts and pull the struts off. Lift the bonnet higher and there's a lever to slide out that holds the bonnet in a vertical position. Can't see you getting the battery out any other way, though doubtless someone has.

Thanks for the top tip. I actually tried the extended bonnet opening thing out today, only I completely removed the strut clips. Didn't realise you could just slide them down.......I know now though.
