Rear camera 2005 square headlights, touch screen

Hi, I've done a search and found conflicting info about how retro fit a reversing camera into a 2005 square headlight, touch screen model. Depending on what I've found, it can't be be done, it can be done but you need to configure the head unit to allow the aux input, it can be done and you don't need to do anything other than connect power to reverse light and connect the input to the head unit

Has anyone actually managed to get this to work and if so, how was it achieved?

I found this on eBay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-Car-Reversin...a361
Would this be suitable?

Advice appreciated before the wife reverses into another skip Wink

sorry just read your post again, ok you have a 2005, no prob,,, but that camera on your link wont fit, thats designed to go in your number plate lights and it is not a straight fit...get a camera to fit under your spoiler, you need a ntsc camera, do you have a tv tuner... V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

with one of these
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-3-5-X5-Range..._768wt_934

you and use the aux in on your screen, the lead goes in line and allows you to feed a video sorce in, when you select reverse, with the ade of a small relay you ground out pin 17 on the white vide plug on you tv tuner and this will switch your screen to and bingo rear image..
just double that its the white plug.. V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

i looked into it and found that the only way to get the screen to switch on when reverse gear was selected was to get an after market module which cost approx £400 or maybe get it switched on in the ccf . ... - .- -.

Thanks Stan, I'll guess I'll give it a miss then....£400 seems too much money just to have a reverse camera

Interesting reading however still pretty expensive IMO, I guess the sensors will just have to suffice, thanks anyway

I have not installed the camera, but I have a pre facelift touchscreen L322 and you can activate the camera mode using the IID tool.

When I select reverse the screen changes automatically to the reverse camera (which is blank as no camera is installed, but it does have the warning text about reversing).

I have the cable and a rear spoiler to install to test it out, but it looks like the system can be switched on easily. Tom

That's better news, just need to find an auto spark who has the IID to turn the option on and find the camera, do you definitely need the rear spoiler with camera or can you retro fit any camera in? Perhaps in the rear bumper?
