I've had a D3 for three years, and also got the FFRR itch... I scratched it quite hard (£27k) to discover that although the FF is much nicer to sit in, has great presence, and a great stereo, it also has the same lousy Satnav, I thought the TDV8 was a peasant's engine, rough and thirsty. It's not as good to drive on windy roads as the D3 but better on the motorway. I sold it and bought an A8. And still have the D3...

If you can live with the cost of a petrol, you will get an awesome car for 10k! |

What are the real world figures between the petrol and TDV6? Guessing the TDV8 is out of my price range?

Its the TD6, basically the old BMW 330d engine, not the TDV6 from the D3, it never went into the FF.

Ok. So just reading into the petrol VS diesel thread and it seems there isn't much in it and looking at the cars for sale, it seems petrol is a lot cheaper than the equivalent diesel. |

If you go petrol then I hope you like petrol stations or have deep pockets. |

I changed from a 55 plate D3 manual to an 06 FF TD6 in August last year. We tow a twin axle caravan and have two retriever dogs. The D3 certainly had more storage space than the FF but the FF, IMO tows slightly better than the D3, however both vehicles are excellent for towing. So far I'm really pleased I did the change, there is a compromise with the loss of the extra room but the comfort is a bonus.
