Do the V8's have 5 or 6 speed autos?

The earlier cars with the BMW engine have a 5 speed; later ones with the Jaguar AJV8 have a 6 speed. Changeover was the 06 model year so approx 55 Reg.

Can't remember the last car i had with 5 gears.

Both the 5 and 6 speed are ZF boxes and seem to be very reliable (apart from the 6 speed transmission coolers on the earlier models). This opposed to the TD6 FFRR with the GM gearbox, they seem to fail quite a lot (something to do with the material of the valve block being too soft).

The AJV-8 seems to be quite a good engine but then the BMW engine should also be fine if it is maintained and used properly (like any engine basically). MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

I think I have decided to buy a V8 purely as it sounds like the TD6 may be a bit sluggish and not much difference in real world running costs. (Can't afford a TDV8)

Just looking into the main things that can go wrong with this particular model..

2002-2005 4.4 V8 Vogue.

Alot of people on the Disco forum have mentioned that these are alot more problems on these than Discos.

I have a TD6 and have driven a 2003 V8 petrol. The driving experience is way better in the V8 and I think if you don't do many miles it's not a bad option.

Having said that trading a disco TDV6 for an early model fullfat doesn't make much sense to me. Just my take, and plenty of others will have a different opinion.

Hopefully, Doesn't seem to be too many good ones about tho.

My Ideal spec would be;
Black
Cream interior
As many toys as possible
Sensible mileage
Full service history
LPG
Front and rear parking sensors
Very well looked after.

Is this possible? I can only seem to find a couple.

Don't assume it's only 55 plate onwards. There is some 05 plate full Facelifts

When I say full facelift I mean until the 07 changes …
