Do the V8's have 5 or 6 speed autos? |

The earlier cars with the BMW engine have a 5 speed; later ones with the Jaguar AJV8 have a 6 speed. Changeover was the 06 model year so approx 55 Reg.

Both the 5 and 6 speed are ZF boxes and seem to be very reliable (apart from the 6 speed transmission coolers on the earlier models). This opposed to the TD6 FFRR with the GM gearbox, they seem to fail quite a lot (something to do with the material of the valve block being too soft).

Will be BMW engine; 5 speed; pre facelift; probably be non-touchsreen unless it's one of the very last ones. You should be able to get a very nice one for your budget. I have a TD6 and have driven a 2003 V8 petrol. The driving experience is way better in the V8 and I think if you don't do many miles it's not a bad option.
