Great.

I think I have decided to buy a V8 purely as it sounds like the TD6 may be a bit sluggish and not much difference in real world running costs. (Can't afford a TDV8)

Just looking into the main things that can go wrong with this particular model..

2002-2005 4.4 V8 Vogue.

Alot of people on the Disco forum have mentioned that these are alot more problems on these than Discos.

These wouldn't be the ones who have had their TDV6 munched when the bearings have failed and found they need a whole new tall block as not even short blocks are available second hand Wink

TBH they all seem to be on a Par with the suspension compressors seeming to last a bit longer in the FF and parts being about the same when you shop around. FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's
Mantec Sump Guard, Rigid Load liner, MY10 BT upgrade.

I own both a FF and a D3 and would not swap a D3 for an early FF V8 in a million years... An 07 facelift FF is the only forward step in technology from a D3 imho...

With regards to internal switch gear, handbrake, drive, suspension etc etc etc... The early FF's seam antiquated in technology compared to a D3... But as I said earlier, it's just my opinion...

Looking into it, there does seem to be quite a few that have been facelifted. Is there an actual reason for this?

I had a D4 rental car (granted not a D3) for a week and I have to say, I was impressed with that car. To be honest, other than the much better looks (IMHO) I don't think a FFRR is worth the premium over a D4 and then I mean a MY2006 (my only comparison sofar).

As for the D3 to FFRR step, can't say anything other than, get some MY2006/2007 or later for a long test drive and make up your own mind. I believe that the impression a car makes on a person is very subjective and therefore I find it hard to advice others on what to do. On the objectives, it is easy, put the spec sheets side by side and go but on the big "how does the car feel" factor, no spec sheet in the world will help Smile MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!
